Our vision as a social enterprise is to re-develop these areas of natural beauty to create a community nature reserve for all.
We support the vision of Ridge Hill Big Local.

Community is at the heart of our business Ridgehill-enterprises is a social enterprise business set up by Ridge Hill Big Local
with the aim of creating projects and activities which support, motivate and inspire our local community and beyond.
Together we can create a business to benefit our community and beyond. If you would like to know more or wish to be involved with our exciting venture(s)
Ridgehill Big Local Enterprises is a not for profit business set up to form a legal body to support Ridgehill Big Local. Ridgehill is one of 150 Big Local areas funded by Local Trust (localtrust.org.uk).
We have a 25 year lease for Stamford Park Boating Lake and Chadwick Dam Fishing Lake. As an innovative solution to social exclusion, attainment, and health derivation our aim is to regenerate this area into a water activities centre and nature reserve to provide both educational and leisure activities for the general public, schools, colleges and ‘other’ groups. This would enable us to provide ongoing legacy income to support Ridgehill, an area of high social deprivation.
Our organisation is community driven. We are involved with college groups, scouts, groups working with young people with learning difficulties, dancing schools and armed forces charities. Our local schools and colleges regularly help us with grounds maintenance, litter picking, and environmental project work. We have had local tradespeople do work for us at reduced rates enabling ourselves to advertise and support local businesses.
Our location is adjacent to Tameside Hospital and through their Wellbeing Office our land is promoted as an area for both the staff and patients to use for short health walks. Our boating lake and the re-development of this area has been instrumental in two projects which have been continuous over this time. Weekly we have supported a group of young individuals from Tameside College whom have learning difficulties (Facebook: Aspirations Victoria).
These young people have developed communication skills, outdoor maintenance skills, knowledge of the health benefits of the outdoors, and learnt the skills necessary to run our boating lake. All these events have helped build their CVs for the future. These young individuals have been inspirational to all involved. Secondly our business supports, Ridgehill Big Local Holiday Camp, in providing this camp an outside space for up to 40 young people from the ages of 5 to 12 living within an area of high socio-economic deprivation. During these camps the young people experience a nature walk, help with grounds maintenance and in the warmer weather benefit from the enjoyment of boating
